Oil on canvas, 2009

A series of large canvases. Each imitates the surface of an old oil cistern. This is one of the first artist’s experiments with picturesque material, considered as a multi- layered structure, product of temporal sedimentation.

The complicated architectonics of layers and paint drips creates the effect of plane’s depth, erasing the difference between abstract and figurative image. The works require from the viewer not only contemplation, but active “reading” as an extensive process, releasing the “pressed” time of the picture.
